The Mome Raths was a somewhat obscure band working sporadically in London in the early eighties, featuring Jim Younger (English concertina, fiddle, mandola, voice) and Julie Carter (English concertina, melodeon, voice) along with IB on clarinets and bass. Much of the material came from the English traditions, and indeed, Jim and Julie also worked with leading English singer Shirley Collins. But the Mome Raths shared an eclectic bent which had them lurching from Baroque Flemish dance music to Sally Sloane via the odd Joni Mitchell cover and The Danville Girl.

Possibly Britain's premier English concertina and bass clarinet trio.
