From the recording The Boy in the Forest/The Green Man
This is from my musical version of Ida Rentoul Outhwaite's Elves and Fairies (of the Australian Bush) featuring Christine Hutchinson and George Spartels. The Boy in the Forest turned out as a sweetly hyper-pastoral melody, while The Green Man is based on a tune (also known as Woodicock ) found in Playford's English Dancing Master of 1651.
Now, talking of Green Men, the image at the top of the page is there primarily to express my love of salad, but the 'foliate head' is a widespread motif examined at length in a fine book by William Anderson. Called Green Man.
